Martin Prankl started Stream1 as a full-service live-streaming company, but when he received interest in dry-hiring equipment, he decided to start renting it out. He started looking for an affordable system that allowed an extensive free trial to see if it fit his team. In Booqable, he found software that was easy to use and affordable for his team’s use case, making it the perfect fit.
Stream1
Martin started Stream1 in Munich, Germany, in 2015 as a professional service provider for live broadcasts, including live-streaming, hybrid events, and web conferences. He and his team work with customers across southern Germany, Bavaria, and Munich. They are a group of professionals who love live-streaming and have an in-depth knowledge of the process and hardware requirements.
Stream1 primarily provides a full-service offering, including everything from consulting to staffing live-streaming events. They advise customers on content, the process, and technology requirements, focusing on providing individual service for each customer. Their live-stream production team consists of image directors, camera professionals, sound engineers, server experts, production managers, and project managers.
In the last year, they have started receiving inquiries from customers looking to dry-hire equipment rather than the full suite of services they provide. This has led them to start offering online bookings for equipment through their website, which provides customers with easy access to additional equipment required for live streaming, including microphones, speakers, encoders, satellite internet, batteries, tents, projectors, and monitors.
The right fit
When Martin and his team decided to start offering dry hire of live-streaming equipment, they knew they would need software to manage inventory and display their products online. They searched for a system that would be affordable for their operation and allow a free testing period to get set up and discover if it was the right fit for their team.
Their search led them to Booqable, where they could try out the software for 14 days for free. This gave them plenty of time to assess if the software fits their needs. They started adding equipment to their inventory and integrated the product list component with their website using the WordPress rental plugin. This made it easy for them to start displaying equipment on their website for those interested in renting it.
In addition, they have found the Android app useful for scanning equipment in and out of their system. This has allowed them to be much more accurate with handing out and checking equipment back in. Meanwhile, the system appears to be working well for the team and they are currently in the process of onboarding onto the software.
Southern Germany’s live-stream partner
Martin and the team at Stream1 have big ambitions to become southern Germany’s live-stream partner. They want to be the go-to company for anyone in the region who needs help with hosting a live-streamed event. Whether they need a full-service production team, advice on setup and hardware, or dry hire of live-streaming equipment.
